John A. Dzierzynski, Jr.

AGMT Proctor/Examiner

A vocal advocate for certifications, J.D. got involved with AGMT because he saw the program’s necessity to ensure glazing projects are completed according to architectural designs and manufacturer instructions.

After beginning his career in theatrical lighting and set construction, J.D. shifted to the commercial window film industry, where his leadership contributed to improved East Coast organization. In 1987, he joined Local Union 252 in Greater Philadelphia. J.D. spent the next 30 years as a union glazier. Prior to retirement, he had stints as a glazing project manager and estimator. Today, he oversees daily operations of AGMT performance-based testing, proctors exams, and serves as quality control leader for construction of new testing rigs for distribution throughout the U.S.

J.D. has been involved with the American Center for Education (ACE) since 2021. In this role, he works with universities, government agencies, and members of the glazing community to evaluate apprenticeship programs and assign college credit, helping apprentices earn degrees while they learn their trade. J.D. is married with five sons and three grandchildren. He and his wife divide time between New Jersey and a vacation home in Maryland, where you can find him leisurely boating on the Chesapeake, gardening, or birdwatching.

“AGMT really gives architects and builders the assurance that people working on their job sites are qualified to install glazing products per manufacturer standards. This program solidifies who’s qualified to do this work.”
