John Kent Receives C. Gregory Carney Award


The National Glass Association (NGA) presented AMS, Inc. President John Kent with the organization’s highest honor, the C. Gregory Carney Award. The award recognizes an individual dedicated to advancing the glass and glazing industry, promoting its use, and advocating for what is right for the industry.

In presenting the award, NGA Vice President of Advocacy and Technical Services Urmilla Jokhu Sowell called John “one of the most dependable people in the glass and glazing industry,” and “very good at seeking improvements for accountability.”

John manages AMS and all operations of its certification activity, including both the AGMT and NACC programs. He believes the AMS role is to facilitate the certification process so that clients find it helpful, efficient, and beneficial to their businesses or career growth. A renowned expert in his field, he holds a B.S. in Engineering and 25+ years of operational procedures development, product compliance testing, and certification experience.

John acknowledged his industry colleagues and NGA when receiving the award. “The association world is the embodiment, the ultimate manifestation of a rising tide lifts all ships. You make the industry better. You make the built environment better. You make the building industry better by collaborating.”
