USGlass blog continues to champion certifications

In her 11 September 2025 USGlass magazine blog, “Insights and Inspirations,” fenestration industry expert and the founding president and current board president of the Façade Tectonics Institute (FTI), Helen Sanders continues her series outlining a blueprint for industry change. She champions both the NACC and AGMT programs – as well as future certifications for facade engineers – as ways to improve the industry.

She writes, “In addition to stakeholder risk reduction, for façade professionals, certification can offer a standardized pathway to verify competence, build the industry’s capacity and elevate the quality and consistency of façade design and execution.”

In Sanders’ 2 October 2025 blog, “Education, Education, Education: Building Better Façades–Together,” she describes contractor and installer education and certifications as ways to overcome the knowledge gap preventing high performance in building facades.

“Developing advanced training programs for installers, along with certification to validate their capabilities, is crucial. Due to the practical nature of the installation, it is essential to provide hands-on training . . . In the U.S., the North American Contractors Certification and Architectural Glass and Metal Technician programs have created a solid foundation for glazing contractor education and quality assurance.”
