Nicolás Esquivel Guzmán

A façade consultant with nearly 30 years of industry experience, Nicolás began his career designing building envelope systems before shifting to consulting.

At CDC, he performs technical reviews of specifications and construction documents, observes installations, and leads forensic and performance testing of façade systems. Passionate about educating the next generation of consultants and sharing his knowledge, Nicolás coordinates all of CDC’s in-house continuing education, and he developed the company’s onboarding program to give each new employee information and resources to set them up for success. He’s also active in the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA), lending his expertise to its Architectural Products Council, Glass Products Council, Large Glass Product Considerations Task Group, Polyisobutylene (PIB) Primary Sealant Task Group, and Considerations for Spandrel Use in Insulated Glass Units (IGUs) Task Group.

A native of Mexico, Nicolás is married with one college-aged son. He jokes that now his dog is the ‘only child’ at home. He enjoys any opportunity to travel or spend time outdoors, visiting national or state parks in the U.S., or renting a car and driving around a new country. He has also been a longtime volunteer with Scouting America, beginning when his son was a Boy Scout. Nicolás is fluent in Spanish and speaks conversational French.
