Carlton Young, Sr.

In retirement, Carl decided that his background could continue to benefit tradespeople. He brings a neutral and objective perspective to grading as an AGMT proctor and examiner.

A union electrician for 38 years, Carl spent his career balancing work and positively impacting the next generation. He taught first- and second-year apprentices of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 910 for 18 years and taught OSHA classes for other members of the union. Carl credits his fellow AGMT examiners with camaraderie and the gift of shared experiences; he appreciates both the ability to promote the value of certification and the opportunity to travel across the country meeting glaziers who are committed to improvement.

Carl admits he never sits still and spends his free time crafting everything from furniture to carved flags in his wood shop, operating a small snow-plowing business during the winter, and volunteering with the Brownville American Legion, where he has been a member for 30 years. Married with four grown children and nine grandchildren, Carl especially enjoys yardwork and traveling.
