GlassBuild America 2024 Recap

It was an incredible week at GlassBuild America 2024. Held September 30 – October 2 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, the event marked the very first time the public could witness the rigor and sophistication of the AGMT Performance-Based Test (PBT) in person. Thank you to the 21 candidates who tested and congratulations to the 15 who earned AGMT certification. They bring the total certified installer count to 1,844 across the U.S. and Canada.

Thank you to Premier Sponsor Frameless Hardware Company (FHC) who provided support to reduce costs for candidate testing and provided all testing materials. The AGMT program has been proud to partner with FHC to recognize glaziers who are setting the standard for competency and quality in the industry.

Thank you to the National Glass Association (NGA) for supporting the AGMT testing initiative and hosting GlassBuild. This milestone testing opportunity would not have been possible without NGA’s commitment to education and workforce development. We appreciate the NGA team’s hard work over the last months to coordinate testing and put on a terrific GlassBuild show.

Thanks also to the glazing contractors who sent glaziers to Dallas for testing: Anchor-Ventana Glass, Bell County Glass Company, Inc., Bolton Glass LLC, Country Glass & Mirror, Inc., Pratt Glass Enterprises, Spring Glass and Mirror, Sunset Glass and to the IUPAT Glaziers for sending glaziers from around the country to be part of this unique opportunity. Having a certified workforce helps ensure quality installation on projects and reduces risk for project owners.

On Tuesday, AGMT Director of Program Development Jeff Dalaba and NGA Vice President of Workforce Development Jenni Chase led the presentation, “How to Develop a Successful Internal Training Program,” which covered internal training challenges and opportunities, along with ways to improve work quality and efficiency while empowering employees. Jenni and Jeff also hosted a tour of students from a local trade/STEM school who were able to learn more about glazing careers.

In addition to the incredible presence for AGMT during GlassBuild, representatives from the NACC program hosted a booth on the exhibit floor to share the value of both certification programs. Thank you to the board committee members and AMS staff who participated or stopped by for conversation.
